COVID Update for Wesley UMC

Tier 2 Mitigations – January 13, 2021

Governor Pritzker and Bishop Beard have announced a return to “Tier 2” mitigations in the Restore Illinois/Back to the Heart of Worship COVID recovery plans for our area.

For Wesley UMC this means we may return to welcoming 10 persons or less for funerals, weddings, committee meetings, small groups, etc., and that staff may return to covering building accessibility from 9-3 Monday through Friday.

Conversations regarding the lifting of further restrictions will be the purview of the newly-formed Re-Entry Task Force, which includes members of Administrative Council, the Coronavirus Response Team, and staff.  The Re-Entry Task Force is led by Administrative Council Chair, Thay Sutimek, and will be meeting soon to explore our options.  We do not plan to exceed the permissions granted by Bishop Beard or IDPH.

Both “Phase” and “Tier” levels are determined by IDPH and are subject to change as the rate of infection and the rate of available medical care fluctuates.
