Each month, we carefully choose to support a local agency or non-profit business with our JUST ONE Collection who is making a difference in our community by providing services to those in need. Last month, we accepted donations to help fund a new bike purchase for Wesley’s own beloved ministry Healing Rides, and Wesley again answered the call! Below is a note from the Healing Rides founder, and long time Wesley member, Barbara Brown:
“A few Sundays ago, Kathi Pritts gave a children’s sermon that illustrated the power of one opposed to the power of many. Her illustration showed that 1 stick is easily broken, but many sticks tied together are strong and unbreakable. This illustration is how I feel about Wesley Church and the greater community of Bloomington/Normal. Alone, Healing Rides could never be a reality, but combined with strong, caring volunteers, and a generous body of givers, this ministry is able to provide powerful healing through fresh air and sunshine to those who need it most.
Thank you Church for your giving hearts, for in less than a month, you have given enough money for Healing Rides to purchase 2 new bike chairs, which enabled the church to GIVE our used bike chairs to 2 families with disabled children. These gifts brought many joyful tears. It reminds me of the story of the loaves and fishes. We asked you to raise $16,000 in one month, and we reached that goal in 2 weeks, and now you are helping to replenish the emergency fund for the rest of the year.
God is truly a good God, and he uses those who are willing to continue his Kingdom. God Bless you all!” – Barbara Brown, Healing Rides
