PAWS Ministry Training begins January 14
Anyone who has ever loved and taken care of an animal knows the amazing blessings pets bring to our lives. Wesley's PAWS (Pets Are Working Saints) Ministry is based on the Animal Assisted Activity model that seeks to improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes and residential homes for children and the developmentally impaired through casual "meet and greet" visits by dogs and human volunteers. PAWS currently brings love, memories of former Best Friends, Christian friendship, and fun to seven area nursing homes and two children's facilities.
To participate, dogs must attend a free, six week training program and receive a Canine Good Citizen Certificate. Classes begin Thursday, January 14 at 7 pm in the Choir Room and will be taught by CGC trainer Lori Cawood. Class size is limited but members of Wesley wishing to participate will be given priority. To register, please contact Gail Scoates at 527-5842.
