Stephen Ministry at Wesley Church
Stephen Ministry is a confidential one-on-one distinctively Christian caregiving ministry for those in our congregation that are experiencing crisis, loneliness, or personal trials. Stephen Ministry trains, supervises, and empowers Stephen Ministers to provide that caregiving in many situations. This ministry is based on the confidential nature of the relationship between a Stephen Minister and the care receiver. No one in the congregation knows any of the care receivers that have a Stephen Minister. This is so that the trust and freedom of the relationship can grow and true caregiving can occur.
Stephen Ministry began in 1976 in St. Louis, Missouri as a way for Dr. Kenneth HauckÙs congregation to care for each other in a committed and present way. The Ministry began to grow and is now an international Ministry that serves all denominations. Wesley Church sent our first team to be trained in St. Louis in April of 1994. We have been an active congregation for 14 years, and have trained many Stephen Ministers. Thank you for your prayers and support.
