Prayer Labyrinth
The Wesley Prayer Labyrinth
Labyrinths have been around for over 4000 years and are found in just about every major religious tradition in the world. Like Stonehenge and the pyramids, they are magical geometric forms that define sacred space. Labyrinths symbolize our individual spiritual pilgrimage in faith... complete with twists and turns. Labyrinths are for reflection, meditation, prayer and comfort.
The Wesley prayer labyrinth is a five circuit medieval design which winds approximately 160 feet through 13 turns. Designs of this nature have been found on pottery and basketry from 2000 years ago.
Three Stages of the Walk
Purgation-Releasing: a time to open your heart and quiet your mind.
Illumination-Receiving: When you reach the center, stay as long as you like. It is a time to connect with God and receive his message.
Union-Returning: As you leave, follow the same path. Consider your feelings and the inspiration you've received during your faith journey.
Take your time and let yourself relax. All are welcome.
